No Surprises Act Notice

At Tranquil Paths Counseling & Consulting, transparency, safety, and trust are at the heart of the care we provide. As part of our commitment to creating a secure and empowering experience for every client, we want you to be fully informed about your rights regarding healthcare costs.

The No Surprises Act, effective January 1, 2022, is a federal law designed to protect clients from unexpected medical bills—particularly those that may arise when receiving services from out-of-network providers or during emergency situations.

What Is the No Surprises Act?

The No Surprises Act helps protect you from receiving surprise medical bills for:

Emergency services, whether the provider is in-network or out-of-network.

Non-emergency services provided by out-of-network clinicians at in-network facilities without your informed consent.

Air ambulance services provided by out-of-network providers.

While Tranquil Paths is a private outpatient counseling practice and does not provide emergency or facility-based care, we remain committed to honoring the spirit of this law by ensuring our billing practices are clear, ethical, and supportive.

How This Protects You at Tranquil Paths

1. Clear & Transparent Billing

You will receive upfront information regarding the cost of your therapy or consulting services.

If you are using insurance, we will inform you whether we are in-network (if applicable) or considered out-of-network, and what this may mean for your costs.

2. Good Faith Estimate (GFE)

For clients who are uninsured or self-pay:

You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before services begin.

Your GFE will outline the total anticipated costs for non-emergency services so you can plan with clarity and confidence.

3. Billing Dispute Rights

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you may initiate a dispute process.
You can learn more about this process through the official Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) resources listed below.
